School sport and fitness

School sport

Every student participates in school sport and fitness activities. In school sport programs, students learn fine and gross motor skills  such as throwing, catching, kicking and passing.

Students generally rotate through these age-appropriate activities in their house groups (Kangaroo/Koala/Emu/Wombat), learning to interact with their peers as part of a team, or as players in fun, yet sometimes competitive games and activities.

 

Specialist programs- Paid sport

All students engage in free school sport and fitness activities. Berowra Public School also offers students the opportunity to work with specialist teachers through paid sport programs. Currently, gymnastics and tennis are two of these programs on offer. For more information about these programs, see the school newsletters or contact the school.

 

Fitness

All classes participate in fitness activities 3x mornings per week (weather permitting). 
 

Before school fitness, games and sports program  

Students in year 4,5 and 6 also have the opportunity to participate in a before school fitness, games and sports program (free of charge). The program promotes active lifestyles amongst the participants in a fun environment and assists students to develop their fitness levels and sporting abilities. 
Starting 8:15am on Tuesday mornings, the program is open to all students 4-6 (with a written permission note from parents).
