The mission of music in BPS is to give an opportunity to all children to develop musical talents and to enrich the academic side of learning by balance with the Arts.
Berowra Public School has two bands. The Concert Band, for children who have been playing for at least one year, rehearses on Tuesday mornings at 8 am in the Hall. The Training Band, for beginner musicians, rehearses on Wednesday mornings at 8 am in the Hall. There are opportunities to perform throughout the year both within and outside the school. Some of these include Open Day, Berowra Musica and Twilight Concert.
The current Band Director is Mr Iain Howick. He believes that playing together in the band ‘is enjoyable and encourages team work - something the children will be able to enjoy all their lives - an investment in the future'.
The Band program is run by the Music Support Team, a group of parents who wish to support music in the school. All band parents are invited to come along and be a part of the Music Support Team. Meetings are held approximately twice a term, to discuss and make decisions about Band matters as well as other areas of music in the school.
