Before and After School Care (BOOSH) Berowra Public School provides before and after school care on site. BOOSH has available 60 places. A fee is charged which attracts the Government rebate. BOOSH is run by a community committee within the school and aims to provide high quality care for infants/primary aged children between the hours of 7.00 to 8.45 am and 3.20 to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday.
Canteen Berowra Public School Canteen provides nutritious foods and snacks for children in line with NSW Education Department Healthy Eating Policy. Lunch orders are available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The canteen is open both at recess and lunchtime on these days.
Library Our school has a dedicated librarian in a well resourced school library. All students have a class lesson in the library every week and are actively encouraged to read by borrowing from the extensive range of books. The library is open at lunchtime as a quiet retreat from our busy playground.
Computer Lab We have a dedicated lab which is fully equipped with up to date technology consisting of laptop computers for each student in a class. The children have a technology lesson every week and are able to access the room during lunchtimes.
Bush Sanctuary (Weeronga) This area of bush is a part of the school which is available to all classes for environmental studies. This area contains a small wetland which is home to the rare and endangered red crown toadlet. The teachers use this area for other studies including art and fitness programs.
Care/Bullying Inappropriate behaviour is actively discouraged. Children are reminded of the Code of Behaviour on a regular basis. If inappropriate behaviour such as bullying occurs there is a three tier response. Firstly, the children are interviewed by the Principal. Secondly, if necessary the matter is discussed with parents. Thirdly, the withdrawal of privileges will be considered if the conduct is serious or continuing.
Financial Assistance Parents should contact the Principal when experiencing financial difficulty. Arrangements can be made to assist parents in financial hardship. Confidentiality is assured.
